Make 24 Math (1-3 Grade)
Sponsor/Advisor: Mrs. Parker & Mrs. Duffus
Requirements: A strong desire to compete in the math game Make 24.
Meetings: Wednesdays: 3:00-3:50
Purpose: Students will play the game Make 24 in which students are given 4 numbers. They then have to make the number 24 by using all 4 numbers in an operation, without using any number twice. You can google the game to see what it is before joining the competition.

Purpose: VEX Robotics is a robotics program for elementary through university students, and a subset of Innovation First International. The VEX Robotics competitions and programs are managed by the Robotics Education and Competition Foundation (REC).[1] In April 2018, VEX Robotics Competition was named the largest robotics competition in the world by Guinness World Records

Spelling Bee

Meetings: Monday and Wednesday (1 hour)
Purpose: A spelling bee is a competition in which contestants are asked to spell a broad selection of words, usually with a varying degree of difficulty. To compete, contestants must memorize the spellings of words as written in dictionaries, and recite them accordingly.
Name that Book Club (NTBC)

Requirements: Desire to Read
Meetings: Monday and Wednesday (1 hour)
Purpose: Name That Book is a competition for upper elementary and intermediate school students celebrating the love of reading. Student teams compete to identify quotes from books of various genres in this exciting event!

Playing a variety of board games will help students develop their ability to solve problems, their sense of self, and their sense of sportsmanship.

Purpose: Creative writing is any writing that goes outside the bounds of normal professional, journalistic, academic, or technical forms of literature, typically identified by an emphasis on narrative craft, character development, and the use of literary tropes or with various traditions of poetry and poetics.
